I chose the Motion Award by Motiongrapher as my creative event for my uni project. Based on their website's definition of "motion design," I wanted to emphasize how the human, the designer, uses many technologies as their trump card to produce beautiful products. I also decided to construct the primary item in the old school, rubber hose art style with grayscale images and prominent colors to guide the visitor through the entire industry, from the rubber hose animatic to our present motion design era.
To begin, I began to gather more material, such as how the hand would move along with the cards, so that I would know how to animate them. Then, instead of using the frame-by-frame method that I had planned from the start, I used Illustrator to produce the assets that I needed for the animation.
The composition was then post-produced with a reduced frame rate and noise effect to make it look more like an old-school animation.
Throughout the process, even though it is difficult to make the hand look more alive through animation, I have enjoyed creating this project and have gained more knowledge and skills to do so.
